Abul Ala Maududi

Mawlana Abu al-A‘la Maududi (25 September 1903 – 22 September 1979), a religious scholar, exegete, journalist and political activist, was born in Aurangabad, Hyderabad State, British India. After obtaining traditional Islamic education at home he went to Madrasah Fawqaniyah, a high school where he learnt traditional religious as well as modern western disciplines.
